I don't know about anyone else, but even just looking at this maple doughnut with bacon on top makes me want to hurl. Who comes up with things like this?
*gag*
We'll be continuing our Halloween tradition tonight of making homemade doughnuts... and we're really looking forward to sharing them with friends. You can rest assured that we won't be adding bacon as one of the ingredients.
Happy Halloween!

Oooh - wish I was closer! You'd have to hold the bacon on mine, too. Lol! That's hilarious! Where'd you get that picture?
Anyhow - HAPPY HALLOWEEN! You guys are always in my thoughts and prayers!
Oh my goodness! Eric LOVES bacon so much that he would devour that donut in a second. For years, I would make him bacon, eggs, toast, etc. for Father's Day or his birthday and finally he was like, "You know what? You can skip the eggs and toast. All I want is the bacon." So now I cook a pound of bacon for his special holiday breakfasts and he eats almost the whole thing! Yeah, he is a heart attack waiting to happen.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I know someone that wants that donut. Have fun making yours!
Megan:
I hope you had an enjoyable night. I wish I could have been there to try your homemade doughnuts--especially without the bacon--gag! Thanks for being the wonderful person you are!
Love,
Andrea
Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it. Bacon maple bars are WONDERFUL. Check out Voodoo Doughnut for other 'interesting' ideas.
Thanks for holding the bacon on those delicious homemade donuts!
We LOVED them! Thanks for sharing them with us! And the chocolate, vanilla and maple frosting was DELICIOUS, too! I look forward to sharing that tradition with you next Halloween, too! :)
Only 365 days to wait! lol
My first reaction was one of disgust at the idea of bacon-maple doughnuts. But then I realized that I do like to dip my bacon into my syrup...so maybe it's pretty much the same.
Still, someday you'll have to give me some tips on doughnut making. I think I've attempted it twice, and although edible the results were less than stellar. :-)
Voodoo Donuts in Portland sells lots of bacon maple bars. I tried one once. I didn't care for it. They were on the Food Network for it and their other creations. They do a lot with glaze and then sugar cereal on top of that.
Megan, I wanted to thank you for your comments on my blog and my children. I know that your are beautiful and waiting for you as well! I also wanted to tell you that it took me a long time to get to where you are now with your grief. You are healing very well--and while you will always have two scars on your hear for your girls, your faith and strength are amazing.--oh and that donut looks gross :)
Jaime
I just happened to stumble across your blog and I thought I would say hello. Being able to adopt is an amazing thing, and I hope that one day when God knows it is right for you it will happen. I am sorry for your loss. I have identical twins who had TTTS, and I know the pain and struggle you go through, the ups and downs. But it makes you stronger in your faith. God bless.
