Birth Day

Our little boy arrived this morning, on his actual due date.

Unfortunately not without some complications.

After laboring for close to 24 hours (without any pain medication, I might add), I ended up being rushed in for an emergency cesarean.

Baby Hugh weighed in at 8 pounds 11 ounces. Immediately after birth there appeared to be some rather serious concerns with the health of our little boy. I got to kiss him quickly on the cheek as they rushed him out of the operating room, with Marc following close behind. It turns out that he inhaled some meconium, causing some problems with breathing and adding the risk of pneumonia.

Within just a few hours after birth, our little Hugh was rushed down to the Big City hospital, two hours away. The same hospital where the twins were born. As soon as I'm released from here, we'll head down there to be close to our newest little one, waiting anxiously to bring him home. And, hoping for the best of all outcomes.

We're holding up, all things considered. It has been a pretty emotional day, not being able to hold my little boy, watching him whisked away to a faraway city, seeing him hooked up to all kinds of machines and tubes. In the midst of it all, we feel very comforted that all will be well. Still, any prayers offered on behalf of our little Hugh would be very much appreciated.

Hopefully we'll have some good news to report in the coming days.

That happened to Davis when he was born. I had to go home without him and pick him up 10 ten days later.
Congratulations and good luck!

Rachel called me last night to inform me of the fantastic news! Now, however, I will be praying for him by name. :) He's perfect. :)

I was thinking about you all day yesterday because I was just wondering if that baby had come yet.

Prays and hugs...and Megan - take care of yourself! Mom's recovery is important, too! Baby Hugh will do great. I'm sure it's nerve-wracking, but you sound like you're doing great emotionally.

What a cutie - and what a lovely, chunky size. Way to go!

welcome baby hugh! I KNOW he is going to be just fine. That's exactly what happened with the baby we were to adopt, and he came out just fine. But of course I'll say as many prayers as possible!

Oh how hard I am praying for you and your little family! If it comforts you at all, I inhaled meconium when my mother was giving birth to me, and I developed pneumonia. I had to be in the NICU for a few days, but I was big and strong (just like your baby), and pulled through just fine. Much love!

I know now is not the time to mention this, but I think I should.
Choose his middle name very carefully. Kids can turn the name Hugh into Huge or You when making fun of them.
I have a friend who's alias on facebook is Hugh Jass. Look up name puns, you'll find Hugh on there.
Choose carefully.

Congratulations! What a big boy! I hope that all is well very soon. We will pray for your sweet family. I hope that YOU recover quickly as well.

Anonymous, of course they put a lot of thought into his name. Everyone plans their baby's name for months and thinks about it for hours on end. I'm pretty sure that didn't need to be said. I, for one, really like the name Hugh. I think it sounds very distinguished, like a gentleman, while being slightly unique, but not odd. Great name pick!

With a husband with the name of Melvin and a son with the name Bruce I find that the only time nosey people go crazy with a name is at birth. People grow into names and pretty soon they make the name look GOOD! I love the name Hugh and I think anyone who goes with the name Anonymous must have made their name look BAD! Hugh Jackman OWNS the name. Consider the source of any body who chooses to leave non supportive and busy body messages. One of our family members said before telling anyone the name of their daughter "we are not open to others commentary" I think you should go with that. Names are a spiritual thing and you gotta do what you gotta do. People should consider that prayerful people name with care and they have to and will go with what they are directed to do. And with that I will sign my name:

Celinda
(and if mr or ms.anonymous makes fun of that I say PFFFTTTT!)
You choose well - he is darling - and I love the name! Prayers are coming your way!

Ms. or Mr. anonymous - This is my nephew we are talking about if you can't say anything nice - stop typing!)

I am so sorry he was whisked away to another hospital. I hope you get to see him soon and his NICU stay is minimal. I've got happy and sad tears flow...{I'm going to blame that on the fact that I'm pregnant}. I am happy he is here. I am happy you have shared him with us. He looks so sweet. :) You are all in my prayers.

I'm so sorry! What a rough transition into the world! He is beautiful, and otherwise healthy (almost NINE pounds! awesome.), he'll be okay. Good job on laboring so long unmedicated, i'm so sorry it all went awry in the end. You are in our prayers.

More prayers will be coming from my family as well. This very same thing happened with my fourth baby's delivery (Adam), who is now a strapping 19-year-old.

It's always a scary thing for any mom, doesn't matter what number the baby is, each delivery is it's own Event, not to be compared with any other.

Thank you for letting us know about your latest miracle, all will be well~

Prayers and thoughts winging their way to your family, and I realllllllly like the comment your sister-in-law left~ <3

Oh, Megan! May you and he both heal very quickly! He is beautiful. I can't wait to see him in your arms, but I know it's nothing to how you must feel!
Love and prayers from me. Congratulations on the addition to your eternal family!
